At the Hearth
I offer you this sacred jar,
Please keep it safe and keep it far,
from me.
You can place it by your bright, warm fire,
For all of this desperate world to admire,
and see.
Your gentle kindness is calm and sound,
Perfect for the little thing floating around,
like a dove.
So you can care for it best of all,
As if you're giving it a solid wall,
of love.
So remember, on nights cold and dark:
Hope survives best at the hearth.
